Greetings SNPhA Family, Advisors, and Affiliates:
I hope that the first day of spring brings you joy and finds you in great spirits! Whether you are on spring break, wrapping up your spring mid-terms or rotations, SNPhA is proud to be a part of your spring plans! SNPhA is excited to continue the extraordinary momentum that our members have demonstrated by growing through Globalization, servicing our communities through Outreach, taking action through Advocacy, learning from Leadership, and promoting education through Scholarship.
First, I would like to CONGRATULATE all of the SNPhA members who participated in #MatchDay2016 on Friday, March 18, 2016! I wish you all much success in your endeavors as you continue your work in making a difference in the future of our profession. No matter where you are, SNPhA will always be there to support you!
At this time, CIC 2.0 has continued to revolutionize our chapter reporting system and we look forward to provide you with objective data reports of the impact our members have made across the nation at our Annual Convention in Atlanta, GA this summer. Having conducted over 20 SNPhA chapter visits across the nation so far, we are at record-setting numbers of National Officer Chapter Visits and look to continue raising that number!
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Shot@Life Summit (February 29 – March 2, 2016) with our National Operation Immunization Chair, Amy Yanicak, and am pleased to share that SNPhA brought the largest group of attendees from across the nation to advocate for global childhood vaccinations! With March being National Kidney Month, our National Chronic Kidney Disease Chair, Adrian Lawrence, has various Webinars planned in collaboration with our national partners, American Kidney Fund. Our National Remember the Ribbon Initiative Chair, Ben Iredell, has been keeping busy with all of the HIV/AIDS Awareness Day activities this spring. Please feel free to visit the Walgreens/SNPhA World AIDS Day 2015 Video to see the impact that SNPhA members made nationwide!
Last weekend, our University of Toledo SNPhA chapter hosted our wonderful 2016 Regions 3, 4 & 5 Conference in Cleveland, OH and members old and new convened to advance our profession, create new memories, and celebrate the hard work that our chapters have been doing across the nation! SNPhA Executive Announcements 2016
January 30, 2016
The SNPhA Executive Board is pleased to announce the re-affirmation of Dr. Carmita Coleman, PharmD, MAA, as Executive Director for another three-year term. Dr. Coleman has served SNPhA well since her initial appointment in 2008, during which time the organization has shown exponential growth in membership and programming. We wish her the best as she continues her service for SNPhA.
Additionally, SNPhA is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. George Okpamen, PharmD, as Assistant Executive Director. Dr. Okpamen served as SNPhA’s National Vice President during the 2011-2012 academic year, National Executive Chairman during the 2012-2013 academic year, and National Executive Consultant from 2013 until now. Dr. Okpamen is also an Associate Consultant in US Oncology Payer Marketing with an Indiana pharmaceutical company.
The Student National Pharmaceutical Association, founded in 1972, is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy- and healthcare-related issues and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of the community. If you have any questions regarding SNPhA, we invite you to reach out to our National Office in San Antonio, Texas, by phone, mail, or email.
