Dr. Charnesa Tutwiler is a 2019 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy located in Memphis, TN. She currently works in the community setting as a pharmacist with Walgreens. Her interests include management, working in the specialty pharmacies within the company to serve the underserve, and academia. Before pharmacy school, she attended Xavier University of Louisiana where she received her B.S in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. While attending Xavier University of Louisiana, she was also initiated into the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., in which she was involved in several community service initiatives. Her love for pharmacy grew when she was granted the opportunity to do research in the Chemistry Department centered around breast cancer therapy and CYP enzymes.
Given that campus and community service was a part of the university culture in Charnesa’s undergrad, staying involved while in pharmacy school was a no brainer. She remembers sitting in P1 orientation and observing extremely passionate upperclassmen talk about SNPhA’s mission of serving the underserved. At that point, she knew SNPhA was the organization for her and couldn’t wait to be a part of the SNPhAM!
Since becoming a member of SNPhA in 2015, she has served as the P1 Historian, Social Chair, and Vice President of the Memphis Campus. Nationally, she served as the Power to End Stroke Chair for the 2018-2019 school year.
In her spare time, Charnesa enjoys online shopping, watching Netflix, browsing on Pinterest, going to brunch and traveling around the world. Moreover, for the past three years, she served as the volunteer cheerleading coach for a local elementary school in the Memphis area which she also enjoyed. Charnesa is excited to serve as an Executive Consultant and help the SNPhAM discover their L.E.G.A.C.Y!
