Power to End Stroke Chair
Shivani Gupta is a fourth year pharmacy student at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy Rutgers University and a New Jersey native. She originally joined pharmacy school because she loves giving back, whether it be helping out an individual or providing her future clinical expertise. It was this same reason that she was drawn to joining SNPhA and its mission of serving the underserved in 2014, her first pre-professional year.
Shivani has had the privilege of helping various initiatives at her local SNPhA chapter including Power to End Stroke, Operation Immunization, and Project Keepsake. She has also served as national liaison, chapter delegate, president-elect and president. During her presidency, Shivani focused on promoting interprofessional collaboration, high school outreach in underserved communities, and impactful health fairs. After attending the regional conference this past year and connecting with other dedicated SNPhA members, Shivani knew she wanted to continue her involvement with this amazing organization at a national level.
Apart from SNPhA, Shivani is currently completing an honors research thesis in lung cancer toxicology and has taught an accredited college course on an introduction to pharmacy. She is also part of Phi Lambda Sigma and an all girls Indian dance team, Nehriyan Bhangra. In her free time, Shivani enjoys game nights with her family, traveling with her sister, and rereading some of her favorite books.
Shivani is extremely honored to serve as this school year's Power to End Stroke Chair. She hopes to continue to expand this initiative by greater focus on lifestyle modifications, stroke signs and symptoms identification, and smoking cessation. She looks forward to leveraging SNPhA's mission to better help chapters make a difference and leave a LEGACY in their own communities.
