Raisa Howard

Region IV Facilitator

Raisa L. Howard is a native of Alexandria, Louisiana where she attended Alexandria Senior High School. While in high school, she was involved in numerous organizations and activities including Student Body President, Adjutant and Administrative Officer in Marine Corps JROTC, National Honor Society, 1st chair Viola in orchestra, two year Powerlifting team captain and MVP, and National Honor Society to name a few. 

Raisa started her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in August of 2011 majoring in pre-pharmacy. She later changed her major to Toxicology in order to become a more well-rounded and competitive pharmacy candidate. She served as the Pre-Pharmacy Organization’s president for two-consecutive years where she redrafted and proposed new by-laws and a new constitution to include Toxicology students actively seeking admission into the pharmacy program. In May 2015, Raisa received her Bachelor of Science in Toxicology, minor in biology, and a minor in chemistry. She was accepted into pharmacy school in August 2015 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Upon finishing her first year of pharmacy school, Raisa received her second Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Science in August 2016. 

Raisa became involved in her local SNPhA chapter during her P1 year at ULM-COP. She loved her chapter’s commitment to help in the less fortunate and underserved in the Monroe/West Monroe area, while promoting a positive imagine of the minority pharmacist.  Upon joining, she became a Fighting Diabetes co-chair, and in her second year in SNPhA, she was elected to president-elect. Raisa served as the 2017-2018 president of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and recently co-hosted a Regional conference with Xavier University’s SNPhA chapter. 

During her first year through her fourth year of pharmacy school, Raisa has been actively involved in numerous professional organization and held several leadership positions. She has served as the P1 representative for ULM-COP admission committee.  She was a co-chair for Special Operations  in the American Pharmacist Association- Academy of Student Pharmacist, and a P3 class representative in Pharmacy Council at ULM. Raisa is also a member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Phi Lambda Sigma Alpha Omega Chapter,  Louisiana Pharmacist Association, Pharmacy Alumni Liaisons, Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, Louisiana Society of Health-System Pharmacist, and Kappa Epsilon Alpha Epsilon Chapter. 

Raisa has been appointed to the national office of Region IV Facilitator, and looks forward to working with her region and national officers. Her main goal for Region IV is to help each chapter realize their strengths and create more opportunities to serve the underserved in their communities. Raisa hopes to learn each chapters President and president-elect’s goals for their chapter and personally work with them to reach it. 

Raisa is scheduled to receive her Doctorate of Pharmacy in May 2019. She then plans to enter a Post Graduate Year One program and later enter a Post Graduate Year Two program in Oncology. Her future goals include Oncology, retail, and recruiting/mentorship.
