Gifty Gyebi is a PharmD candidate (Class of 2018) at the University of Houston. She was born in Oakland, California to Ghanaian immigrants. Before pharmacy school, she earned a bachelor’s in biology from Prairie View A&M University; a master’s in biology from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis; and a master’s in management from Wake Forest University.
In her undergraduate years, Gifty’s interest in leadership and community involvement was reinforced after pledging Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She continued her dedication to service by joining SNPhA during her first year of pharmacy school. She was inspired to become a leader in the organization after learning more about the history of why SNPhA came to be. As a former chapter president, she is committed to moving the organization forward in any way possible. She firmly believes that no other organization does more than SNPhA for the advancement of minority student pharmacists as well as underserved populations.
Gifty is an active member of several organizations, including the Industry Pharmacists Organization, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc., and Phi Lambda Sigma. She enjoys going to church, singing, and catching up on her favorite TV shows. She also loves Disney movies, Mexican food, and Ghana jollof.
As National Vice President, Gifty is excited to help members with professional development through the regional and national clinical skills competitions. She is also very passionate about fostering teamwork between chapters through the CAPs program. Gifty is humbled to serve on the National Board and looks forward to an amazing year of “Connecting the Pieces!”
