Legislative, Membership Benefits, and Immigration Chair
Ms. Lauren Latten is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. She is a rising 3rd year pharmacy student at Howard University College of Pharmacy, which is located in Washington, DC. Lauren completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC), where she majored in International Studies with concentrations in Global Health and Latin America and minored in Business Administration and Spanish for the Professions. While at UNC, she held various leadership roles and had the opportunity to work for Bank of America as a Global Wealth & Investment Management summer intern.
During her first week at Howard University College of Pharmacy, she learned about various campus organizations. The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) was the only organization that stood out to her. Chapter members seemed genuinely passionate and excited about SNPhA! Lauren was motivated by their enthusiasm and quickly joined SNPhA. Shortly after becoming a member, she learned about the vast history between SNPhA and Howard University College of Pharmacy. Chauncey I. Cooper founded NPhA, our parent organization, and previously served as Dean of Howard University College of Pharmacy.
Lauren is passionate about SNPhA and dedicated to serving underserved populations. Throughout her pharmacy career, Lauren has remained active in SNPhA and has served in various leadership roles. While a 1st year pharmacy student, Lauren got involved with her chapter’s CIC Subcommittee and was chosen to serve as a member of the National Public Relations Sub-Committee. In that role, she worked closely with the National Public Relations Liaison and made significant contributions to The Signatura, SNPhA’s newsletter. Lauren implemented “Disease Dialogue”, which educated SNPhA members on various disease states and pharmacotherapy options. As a 2nd year pharmacy student, Lauren was elected Vice President of her chapter.
She is honored to serve as this year’s Legislative/Membership Benefits/Immigration Chair and is excited to begin this wonderful journey with her fellow executive board members! Lauren looks forward to implementing this year’s presidential theme, which is “Connecting the P.I.E.C.E.S.”. Lauren enjoys meeting new people, gaining mentors, implementing innovative ideas, and increasing membership benefits. She plans to promote advocacy of various topics, including Pulmonary Fibrosis. Lauren’s biggest inspiration, her mother, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2011.
Lauren is also involved with other organizations on campus. This year, she serves as the Student Advocacy Chair of Student Council, VP of Communications of APhA, and Treasurer of ASHP. Lauren is also a member of APhA, ASHP, IPhO, and ISPOR. In her spare time, she loves to network, cook, organize events, travel, attempt to parallel park, and spend time with her family and friends.
