Region IV Facilitator
Vivian Lieu is currently a 3rd year student at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy (UHCOP). Vivian was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she successfully completed her undergraduate coursework. During her time at the University of Houston, Vivian was able to experience first-hand the importance of giving back to those in need. She worked alongside the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a non-profit organization that raises funds dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and other related diseases. Her interest towards serving the local community has only grown since the start of her academic career at UHCOP.
Vivian developed her passion and commitment towards becoming a leader within her community and the profession of pharmacy by being an active member of Student National Pharmaceutical Association, National Community Pharmacists Association, as well as being a proud active brother of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc. Her most humbling leadership role exemplifying passion was with her local SNPhA chapter by serving as a Smoking Cessation Co-chair for the past two consecutive years. She wholeheartedly believes that whether it is impacting 1 or 100 patients, the rewarding feeling comes from how a life can be impacted with the knowledge provided by a healthcare professional.
During her free time, Vivian loves to sleep, eat, and spend time with her family. She also loves to try local independently owned coffee shops around the Houston area to expand her palate and her love towards coffee. Along with her coffee addiction, Vivian has an uncanny obsession towards sweets that she is infamously known for.
Vivian is excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve as the 2017-2018 Region IV Facilitator. She envisions strengthening this year’s theme of: “Connecting the P.I.E.C.E.S.” focusing on patients, inclusion, empowerment, community, education and service. She strives to obtain her goals by assisting in breaking down barriers that each chapter may encounter and help in the efforts to reach the ultimate goal of serving the underserved community on a national level. Vivian believes that by having optimal transparency and strong interpersonal communication skills, each chapter will achieve goals that were once unattainable. She hopes to empower and motivate others to take a more active role within their community and to lead by example. She is eager to meet and work with everyone in the SNPhAM!
